Hear that?
The house is perfectly quiet. Helena, who had a fever last night and kept us both up in the wee smalls, has been asleep for something like four hours, sleeping off her virus and her outing-provoked exhaustion. Daniel is at school, recuperating. Ed has taken his parents out. I am knitting, which doesn’t make too much noise. It’s perfect.
So even though Helena is feverish, even though I had to change a flat tyre outside of school with the school handy-man occasionally wandering over to check on my progress and offer tips (but no actual help), even though I had to eat scrambled eggs for lunch (which I hate) and even though my husband is reduced to reading my blog to find out how I am (doing a bit better now, love!), things are looking up. The sun is shining through the window and falling across my lap as I type. All is right with the world.

The quiet is what I like about being up in the middle of the night; even with a sick child.
Oh good. I’m so glad you’ve found some respite. You’re not alone in the ‘partners reading blogs’ thing. When Andy gets back from work, one of the first things he does is check mine, to ‘see what you’ve been up to’.
I think he prefers this online sanitised version…
