Something about nausea…

I’ve been absent, I know. Had a little minor bout of food (urp) poisoning and lost a couple of days of coherence and usefulness. As I lay abed, weak and riddled with nausea, I thought about how feeling sick to one’s stomach is an almost impossible to overcome affliction. I can carry on with a headache. I can carry on pretty cheerfully with broken limbs, asthma, bursitis, intestinal murmurings, earache, sinus infections, sneezing fits or dandruff. But a funny tummy? I wondered why people didn’t write stomach aches into the tales of the great knights. They’d've been off their horses and in the ditch in a hurry, grail or no grail, if their stomach had rebelled against them. There’s very little steel in the human soul against nausea.

Which is why we must all kowtow to pregnant women with morning sickness. They are true and valiant warriors against the frailities of the human body. Kudos. And glad it will (you listening, God?) never be me again.
