Ephemera
Krista, of the Silent K, has nominated a post of mine for A Perfect Post which is run by a couple of bloggers to combat the intensely emphemeral nature of blogging.
It was interesting that the post generated such a response, which is, I suppose, one way of judging a good post. What makes it more interesting to me is that from where I’m sitting, it reads like the rant it is, rather than as a well thought out piece of writing. There are about four topics in there which each deserve their own rant. And maybe one day, they’ll get them.
I am coming up both to a year of blogging and to my 300th post and so I have been thinking about how a blog disappears into the ether and how that feels, to have things that mattered so much to me one day simply vanish into the unread, but vaguely remembered archives. A little like life really. I’m down with that.
(Still, I’m trying to figure out how to back up this blog so that if Blogger does implode, I won’t have lost all these words forever. The endless war between holding on and moving forward.)

Congratulations. A rant in the hands of a good writer is good writing. Passion speaks to people.
I’m technology impaired so I just cut and paste my posts into Word docs. I guess with 300 that would take forever though.
P.S. I agree with Krista that was a perfect post.
There is an option you can choose when logged in to blogspot in Settings>Email>Blogsend Address in which each post is emailed to you each time you publish. Then you can save them to disk. Then you can publish a book!
For the past 300 posts you could email each of them from your site to yourself but that might take as long as cutting, pasting and saving…
You have many perfect posts – how to choose? I read your posts daily.
Hey congrats Stuntmother! I love reading your posts because you are very thought provoking and not afraid to tell it like it is. You deserve to be nominated – 300 posts is pretty impressive I must say.
My site isn’t backed up whatsoever.
i guess I should look into that. I have alot of posts too.
congrats on a “perfect post”
i was happy to see it there!
and i think i figured out
how to “back” my blog up
once a long time ago,
but sadly,
i forget what i did
or even where i backed it up at
heh.
kind of ironic really.
