Vacationing

So, as you might have gathered from the last post, we’re on holiday. We’ve rented a house at the Jersey shore with my parents. (That in itself is a story. Oh what a story. A very Brady story, only not the happyhappy Bradys but rather the evil-twin bodysnatcher Bradys. But it’s working out all right.) My sister and her fiance came for a few days. And the first weekend was a wonderful concoction of friends and their children and lots of good food and beer and fun. And sausages.

It’s not been brilliant beach weatherm — although we have had a few days of sun — but sunny or rainy it’s so nice to be by the ocean anyway. And we’ve walked and ridden bicycles and eaten ice cream and bickered and giggled and gone to bed late and gone for rides in the amusement park and argued and agreed. The children have both done a fair bit of “swimming” which means they would wait for a wave to come towards them and then they would throw themselves down and crawl along the sand for a few feet. I wish I had a photo of that but I’d already dropped the camera in the ocean once this trip and taking it to the water’s edge again felt like tempting fate. Mostly, thought, we’ve dug holes. And more holes. And more holes.
So I don’t have a point really — I just wanted to check in. All this sea air has made me sort of slow and dopey and cheerful and not a sparky postaminute blogmaster. I think I need another beer now.

If you are slow and dopey, then you are probably very relaxed! Which is great. As are holes, sausages and beer, though not necessarily in that order…

Sandcastles and holes are great! Ellie has dug/built some too (well, Ok… Paul did, and I helped, and Ellie tried to sit on the sandcastles, whch was a contribution of sorts!). Hope you drink lots of beer, and leave at least some of the childcare to others for a change! (After all, that’s why we holiday with grandparents isn’t it?!)
