This is the Year that Was

2006 December 30

A little while ago Krista tagged me with a blog year-in-review meme which, since today is a good day to look behind (although not at my behind per se) I am doing. In any case, I get a real kick out of peeking at all the tripe I’ve hammered out this past year. Here are the first sentences of the first posts for each month of 2006. You can click to read the whole post which is sometimes worth it and sometimes, eh, not so much.

January: I have a love/hate relationship with New Year’s resolutions.

February: You know, I don’t honestly know if Holly Hobbie knows this (although how could she not) but she has created one of the nicest gay couples (only gay couple?) in children’s literature.

March: Been thinking about seven recently as Daniel and I debate which Narnia book to read first — The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (as the first written and the first I read) or The Magician’s Nephew (which CS Lewis thought should be read first, although it was written sixth).

April: Why must our mothers be mothers and does that make me a must-be-mother?

May: Daniel and Helena are both very sensitive to loud noises — Daniel used to break into hysterics every time a fire engine went past and a motorcycle would make him run screaming down the block and straight up my legs and wrap himself (like the Grinch’s dog) around my head.

June: Krista, of the Silent K, has nominated a post of mine for A Perfect Post which is run by a couple of bloggers to combat the intensely ephemeral nature of blogging.

July: I tried to explain blogging to my parents today.

August: I have realized one reason I hate horror films (you know, other than the gratuitous blood, gore, death and icky ghost stuff).

September: Summer might technically be around for another three weeks, but with school beginning on Tuesday, as far as the Stunthouse is concerned, summer is nearly over.

October: Today, we went to the Franklin Institute, which is the local science museum.

November: Today is 1 November and thus begin the twin insanities of NaBloPoMo and NaNoWriMo.

December: Yup.

I enjoyed a trawl through your archives, Ms Stuntmother! I especially liked the Erica Jong post and the one about explaining blogging to your parents. And now I’ve lifted the meme, so thanks for my new year’s eve inspiration.
