Can anyone say chipmunk?

I am off today to get all four wisdom teeth extracted. They are in various stages of impactedness and apparently have roots like the tree of life, extending all the way into my brain for the uppers while the lowers make it down somewhere towards my navel. The surgeon looks positively giddy with excitement over such a “challenging” extraction. I am not feeling giddy. I am feeling hungry (because I’m not allowed to eat this morning). I’m also, truth be told, a little nervous.

I will show you me later, if it’s not too horrific. Until then, there’s a stack of old magazines and a water cooler in the corner.

Coming up after the break, a swollen Stuntmother who hopes to retain some feeling in her lower lip so that she can carry on pouting effectively, will consider international day at Daniel’s school and early rock videos.

Good luck becoming unimpacted. I hope your experience is like mine. “Count backwards from 100… okay, time to wake up now.” It’s a little scary just how effective anesthesia is!

it is an absolute horror to have those removed. i had all four taken, as well, at the same time, and all three got that impaction thing-y because i smoked and drank soda right afterwards and quite frankly, I think I’d almost RATHER dwell with this current bout of eternal sinusitis than go through that discomfort again…

…but this sinusitis sucks pretty bad.

I’ve had mine out too. You have my thoughts and sympathy. It hurt. a lot. but then it got better. honest.
Besides maybe techniques have improved and it will hardly hurt at all now.

Good luck anyway – and what a good excuse to eat jelly and ice cream (in the English sense)

Sympathy! The worst thing when I had it done was not the pain (there was none) or the discomfort (plenty of that). It was the noise as they cracked the tooth out right next to my eardrums. Made tears of shock run down my face. I’m sure the dental assisstant was tempted to use that suction thing on the my face.

the first two i got out, well, i won’t regal you with the horror story but the last two were so easy and so fine, it was a chipmunk frolic in the part and am hoping that yours is as well :)

I think you should treat yourself with a gigantic Bailey’s milkshake–the cold and the alcohol will kill the pain and, hey, if you drink enough of it, you’ll be slurring your words for an entirely different reason. :)
